2026 Outstanding Student Leader Nomination

UTA community members (faculty, staff, and students) are invited to nominate any student leader for the following awards (all of which include scholarship money):

Outstanding First Year Leader
Outstanding Second Year Leader
Outstanding Graduate Student Leader
Leadership Achievement Awards
Jeff Sorensen Award
Wayne Duke Award

QUALITIES & QUALIFICATIONS: The Outstanding Student Leader Awards recognize students for their demonstrated 1) dedication and commitment to their communities, 2) leadership skills, and 3) lasting impact (or potential to make a lasting impact) at UTA. More information on each award can be found here: https://www.uta.edu/student-affairs/involvement-and-engagement/student-recognition/outstanding-student-leader-awards

We believe leadership is more than a position and can be demonstrated in many ways. While positional leaders are eligible and often important change agents in our community, you might also consider students who may be leading through inspiration, motivation, and encouragement beyond a formal role.

Students must have a 2.5 GPA to be selected.
Students must be in good standing with the university and Community Standards office to be selected.

AWARD BENEFITS: Once selected, students will be recognized at the Leadership Recognition Luncheon, have their names engraved on the Outstanding Student Leader wall near Bluebonnet Ballroom, and will receive a monetary scholarship to be applied to their following semester. Award recipients who are graduating will have their scholarship applied to any existing balance or student loans.

AWARD PROCESS: Nominations are received. Once nominated, students must complete an application to be considered. Students considered for the Leadership Achievement, Jeff Sorensen, and Wayne Duke awards and scholarships will be invited to an interview with the Outstanding Student Leader Awards Committee.

Please note that the nominations will close on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Thank you for your time!
